On June 17, 2025, the Technical University of Sofia hosted a midterm demonstration session for projects developed under the Student and School Innovation Hub<\/em> competitions. The event brought together young researchers, their mentors, members of the university leadership, and international students from four partner universities within the European University of Technology (EUt+)<\/strong> alliance \u2013 Riga Technical University, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Cyprus University of Technology, and TU-Sofia.<\/p>

The event was opened by Prof. Lidia Galabova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Integration who along with Prof. Dr. Ivan Kralov, Vice-Rector for Academic Staff and Education,\u00a0 who also was a jury member, have been the initiators of this program six years ago. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maria Nenova and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Tzochev from the Research and Development Sector at TU-Sofia also participated, sharing expert opinions and feedback on the students’ work.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The following projects were presented:<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39 “3D Printing and Testing of a Velocity Stack for a Race Car Engine”<\/strong> \u2013 Kristina Georgieva showcased a project involving the design and testing of a 3D-printed velocity stack using FDM and SLA technologies. The work includes simulation of vibrations, flow analysis, and planned experimental testing to enhance engine performance.<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39 “Morning” \u2013 A System for Assessing the Carbon Footprint of Student Dormitories<\/strong> \u2013 Developed by Mihail Dimitrov, Ivan Ivanov, and Alexander Dilchev, this project proposes a digital solution for calculating emissions, displaying real-time data, and promoting responsible energy use through smart dashboards in TU-Sofia\u2019s dormitories.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\ud83d\udd39 “SPPS \u2013 Automated System for Recognizing the Spatial Orientation of Packaging Details”<\/strong> \u2013 Konstantin Naydenov presented a custom-built open-source delta robot using computer vision and AI algorithms to automate the precise handling of metal parts in industrial settings<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\ud83d\udd39 “Embedded Plant Monitoring System with Mobile App”<\/strong> \u2013 Veselin Gospodinov introduced a low-cost IoT-based system for real-time monitoring of environmental conditions affecting plant growth, with automated irrigation and a user-friendly mobile web interface.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The student teams received warm applause and stimulating questions from both the experts and the international audience. Their participation in the Innovation Hub continues, with final presentations and demonstrations scheduled for later this year.<\/p>
