
Four Innovative Projects Selected for Funding under the 2025 “Student Innovation Hub” Program

The application and evaluation process for the “Student Innovation Hub” competition and its high school edition has officially concluded. Four outstanding projects—three student-led and one developed by a high school student—have been selected for funding.
The winning proposals stood out with their originality, applicability, and development potential. The selected teams will receive financial support to implement their ideas between March and November 2025.
Funded University Student Projects:
🔹 “Carbon Footprint Evaluation System for Student Dormitories”
Team: Mihail Dimitrov, Ivan Ivanov, and Aleksandar Dilchev
Mentor: Assist. Prof. Kalin Filipov
This project aims to develop a digital system for calculating and visualizing CO₂ emissions in TU-Sofia’s student dormitories to promote environmental awareness and responsible energy use among students.
🔹 “Embedded Plant Monitoring System with Mobile App”
Author: Veselin Gospodinov
The project envisions an automated monitoring and irrigation system for houseplants, using an ESP32 microcontroller and a mobile app that notifies users of critical environmental changes.

🔹 “3D Printing and Testing of Components for Race Cars”
Author: Kristina Georgieva
Mentor: Assist. Dr. Tsvetomir Gechev
Through 3D printing technology, the project will design, manufacture, and test various components for high-performance race cars, ultimately integrating them into a real vehicle for evaluation.

Funded High School Project:
🌟 “Automated System for Spatial Orientation Detection of Packaging Parts”
Author: Konstantin Naidenov, student at the National High School of Computer Technologies and Systems – Pravets
Mentor: Eng. Nikol Hristova
The project proposes an autonomous delta-robot system that uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to detect the spatial orientation of objects in an industrial setting.
