The European Researchers’ Night, an annual event held on September 29th, brings together millions of visitors across various countries to learn more about current scientific developments and their application in everyday life. This year, the Technical University of Sofia proudly showcased two projects: SEARCH (https://fresher-researchersnight.bg/en/112363/) in Bulgaria and Science Goes To School https://eventos.upct.es/104144/detail/noche-europea-de-los-investigadores-e-investigadoras-science-goes-to-school.html, the latter in partnership with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena as part of the EUt+ alliance (+ https://www.tu-sofia.bg/university/3105 ).
The European Researchers’ Night promotes science, showcases outstanding scientific projects, increases interest in scientific careers, and demonstrates its impact on daily life. The event attracts over 1.5 million visitors annually.
A particularly impressive presentation in Cartagena (https://www.upct.es/) was by the students of the Student Innovation Hub at TU – Sofia. With their “Solar Hive” project, they displayed the application of modern technologies in green energy and monitoring systems, which can be used in beekeeping. This scientific development involved students from different faculties, all of whom exhibited their commitment to innovation and research: Georgi Balev from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies; Miroslav Nikolov from the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies; Nikolina Vladimirova from the Electrical Engineering Faculty; and Tsvetoslav Iliev from Computer Systems and Technologies. The stellar performance of our students did not go unnoticed. During the event, the TU – Sofia students’ booth was visited by a high-level delegation led by the Rector of TU – Sofia, Prof. Ivan Kralov. Professor Kralov expressed his admiration and encouragement to the students, emphasizing the importance of research and innovation in the educational process. Additionally, the students were commended for their work and presentation by representatives of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the Technological University of Troyes. This event not only showcased the excellent work of the TU – Sofia students but also highlighted the significance of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the connection between universities within Europe.
